About the event
πππππππππΒ brings together twelve artists whose work explores sunlight through their distinct practices. Spanning painting, textiles, collage, ceramics, and sculpture, this exhibition observes how sunlit illumination affects subject, atmosphere, and materiality.
Perceiving light is only thanks to the sublime trifecta of physics, the human eye, and neurology. When light hits an object surface, it will absorb and reflect specific wavelengths of light, which we receive through our own lense. At its core sunlight, as a material, is color.
Senstationally, to be sunstruck is to be captivated by light, drawn toward its warmth and brilliance. Still, it risks overexposure; dizziness, unease, and vulnerability accompany too much sun. This tension unfolds through vivid palettes and luminous surfaces that jut up against shadow, mystery, and darkness.
Together, these works reflect the complexity of our relationship to sunlight and its ability to nourish, overwhelm, illuminate and obscure. πππππππππΒ invites viewers to linger within this spectrum asβ¦
