​BENTONVILLE, AR –  Midnight Gallery presents The Meeting Place, a solo exhibition by

painter Greta Kresse. On view from April 30 through June 1, 2025, celebrate the peak of Float

Season this May with Kresse’s vibrant, immersive depictions of an Arkansas summer.

The Meeting Place explores intimacy and community, ideas that intersect with our relationship to

the natural world. Kresse encapsulates the gravity our Arkansan rivers hold, both as physical

landmarks and cultural lifeblood. The exhibition is a homage to the river as sanctuary and shared

space, where bodies, histories, and connections converge.

With a painter’s eye for the poetic, Kresse blends realism with moments of abstraction, capturing

both individual presence and collective experience. Her limited palettes and plein air sensibilities

evoke not just the look of summer, but its weight, sound, and sensation.

​

Through The Meeting Place, she proposes love and comfort as radical gestures in the American

South. She offers a vision of community as fluid as our rivers, as intimate as our bond with

nature, and as ever-evolving as our Ozarkian landscape.

About the Artist: Greta Kresse (b. 1999) is an Arkansas-born, contemporary figurative painter.

Deeply rooted in her Southern community, which inspires her narratives, Kresse expands her

practice at the New York Studio School, Anderson Ranch, and Mount Gretna. Kresse earned her

Bachelor of Arts degree from Hendrix College and is currently pursuing her MFA at the

University of Arkansas while teaching workshops regionally.
